The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency has published Punjab Environmental Quality Standards (PEQS) on 15 August, 2016 in exercise of the powers conferred under clause (c) of sub-section (1) of the section (4) of Pakistan Environmental Protection Act, 1997, with the approval of the Punjab Environmental Protection Council.
The PEQS are applicable to all kind of industrial and municipal effluents, industrial gaseous emission, motor vehicle exhaust and noise and ambient air. Punjab Environmental Protection Agency has also established standards for Bio-medical waste and drinking water quality.
