Permit to work (PTW) is a formal and documented safety procedure to ensure all necessary actions are taken before, during and after a high risk activity.

What are parts of a Permit to Work?

    • Issue
    • Receipt
    • Clearance/return to service
    • Cancellation
    • Extension (If required)

It may differ for your industry depending on the safety procedures.

What are types of Permit to Work?

All high risk activities should require a permit to work. Following are generic high risk activities as not all industries conduct similar activities and based on location and surroundings some activities might be high risk.
