    What is Critical Lifting?

    Use of crane above 75% capacity or tandem lifting or Lifting over live facilities is considered as critical lifting.

    What are hazards in critical lifting?

    • Weather Conditions
    • Suspended Load
    • Fall of load
    • Struck by load
    • Crane Collapse
    • Damaged Tools and Tackles
    • Improper Signaling
    • Uneven Ground condition
    • Adjacent / nearby structures
    • Overhead powerlines
    • Mechanical Failure
    • Improper rigging
    • Uncontrolled movement of load.

    What are control measures for critical lifting?

    • Permit to Work
    • Third Party certificates
    • Crane checklist
    • Lifting plan
    • Color coding
    • Trained operator and riggers
    • Signal by only one
    • Preventive maintenance of the crane
    • Daily inspection
    • Barricading and signage / sign boards
    • No one should be allowed to go under suspended load
    • Outriggers fully extended
    • Working Safe Load Indicator (SLI) or Load Movement Indicator (LMI)
    • Outrigger pads
    • Swinging alarm
    • Two taglines should be used
    • Anti two block
    • Safety latch.
