Vehicles moving bulky loads feature prominently in workplace accidents. They have a far greater risk of collision because the driver’s vision can be limited due to carrying large loads, driving around blind corners or even just carrying out specific manoeuvres. The risk of accidental collision is significantly increased when vehicles work in close proximity to pedestrians. For example, a potentially fatal crushing hazard can occur when a pedestrian worker goes undetected by a forklift operator with limited vision.
The ZoneSafe Vehicle to Person proximity warning and alert system is specifically designed to help reduce the risk of accidental collisions between materials handling equipment and pedestrian workers. Offering a flexible solution, the system fits most types of MHE.
Quick and easy to install, the ZoneSafe System consists of:
1) In-cab control unit – fitted next to the vehicle driver.
2) Detection antenna(s) – fitted to each vehicle.
3) ZoneSafe Tags – carried or worn by personnel forming part of everyday PPE.
The in-cab control unit is fitted to the vehicle within reach of the vehicle’s operator. An audible visual alarm alerts the driver every time anyone wearing an active RFID tag enters the detection zone. The unit has the capability to store and send data on each ZoneSafe application.
A detection antenna is fitted to the vehicle creating a 3-9 metre detection zone around the vehicle. Anyone wearing an active RFID tag will be identified when they enter the detection zone.
An active RFID tag is worn by all personnel. The tag can be placed in a hi viz jacket, clipped to a lanyard or simply placed in your pocket.
