A journey management plan is a defined process of safety steps that should be taken during a journey to reduce road and transport risks. It is a form of risk assessment to identify all possible hazards and their associated control measure that may occur during a journey.

A journey management plan should include the following.

    • Trip description
    • Night driving
    • Duration
    • Routes and rest areas
    • Depart date and time
    • Arrival date and time
    • Driving life-saving rules (if any)
    • Contact details
    • Emergency response
