The NEBOSH UK has updated the NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) in Occupational Health and Safety course for 2026.
Key Changes in NEBOSH IGC 2026
- One of the most notable changes is the renaming of the exam units. The previous IG1 and IG2 will now be referred to as GIC1 and GIC2.
- There have been major adjustments to the format, marking, and passing criteria for the GIC2 component. These updates are designed to streamline the assessment process and ensure that it more accurately evaluates a candidate’s understanding and practical abilities in occupational health and safety.
- These changes are referred to as GIC1 (2025 specification) and GIC2 (2025 specification.
Important Dates regarding NEBOSH IGC 2026
The new syllabus will officially begin on 02 February 2026. If you’re planning to sit for the exams, the first assessment dates have been set for 04 March 2026. It’s crucial to prepare in advance to ensure you’re ready for the changes. The final assessment dates for NEBOSH IG1 and IG2 (2018 specification) are 05 August 2026 and 06 August 2026, respectively.
