What is biggest safety issue you face at your worksite?

Hello everyone,

In my past experience, I observed that many employees avoided following safety protocols in the workplace, which set a negative example for others. Often, this happened because employees did not fully understand the risks involved or did not take safety rules seriously. To address this, it is important to provide behavioural safety training that clearly explains the purpose of safety protocols, offer regular reminders, and recognize employees who follow the rules. These steps can encourage better habits and help create a safer workplace for everyone.

In your experience, what is the biggest safety issue you commonly see at your worksite. It could be:

• Unsafe work practices

• Lack of training

• PPE not used properly

• Management pressure

• Poor supervision

From what I’ve seen during internships, lack of proper safety training is a major problem.

Many workers don’t understand why a rule exists, so they don’t take it seriously.

For me, the biggest issue is management pressure to complete work quickly.

Even when safety procedures are clear, workers are pushed to skip steps to save time, especially during shutdowns or tight deadlines.

The biggest workplace safety issue worldwide is, first of all, the salary issue.

Until salaries are adequate, no one will truly consider safety problems as real issues. Therefore, the debate should focus on the fact that if you pay low salaries, safety professionals will not be able to give proper attention to workplace safety.

In addition, safety professionals must be given proper authority and facilities. The situation in Pakistan and India is already very poor, and now even in GCC countries, safety professionals are not being paid appropriately.

Under these circumstances, how can a safety professional genuinely focus on workplace safety issues when they are struggling with their own financial problems? Naturally, their energy and attention will remain consumed by financial stress rather than safety improvement.

Hi,

I think poor supervision is the biggest safety issue at the workplace. Unsafe acts become normal practice due to poor supervision.

A major safety issue we face at site is unsafe work practices during high risk activities like working at height without proper fall protection. Workers sometimes remove harnesses or skip anchor points to save time, often due to work pressure and poor supervision.
