Sectoral Guidelines for Environmental Reports has been published as a part of the package of regulation and guidelines by Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency in 1997 for different industries.
Sectoral Guidelines for Environmental Reports Major Chemical and Manufacturing Plants assist proponents of major chemical and manufacturing plants which are producing or storing chemical substances (including reactive, toxic of flammable liquids, vapors, gases and solids).
These guidelines applies on following industries but not limited to.
- Petrochemical Industry
- Inorganic Chemicals Industry
- Pharmaceuticals and Fine Chemicals Industry
- General Manufacturing Industry – including sugar mills, refineries, smelters, materials processing plants.
These guidelines covers potential environmental impacts during construction phase and operation phase including hazards, water discharges, air emission, solid waste. These guidelines helps in identifying the key environmental impacts, mitigation measures and alternatives.
