About the Founder
HSE Forum was founded by Abid Khan, an HSE professional with academic and industry experience in environmental management and occupational health and safety.
Abid holds a Bachelor’s degree in Energy and Environment Engineering and a Master of Engineering Management (Environmental Management). He is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Wollongong, Australia.
His professional career began in environmental consultancy, where he gained practical experience in environmental impact assessments (EIA), initial environmental examinations (IEE), environmental management plans (EMP), HSE audits, environmental monitoring, regulatory compliance, air dispersion modelling, asbestos management surveys, and environmental legal compliance.
He later transitioned into the oil and gas industry, working in health and safety roles on major shutdown and engineering projects in the Middle East. This experience involved supporting safe work practices, contractor safety, risk management, and HSE compliance within high-risk industrial environments.
His qualifications and professional training include:
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC)

- Microsoft Office Specialist (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Breeze AERMOD (Air Dispersion Modelling)
- ERDAS (Remote Sensing)
